2D/3D Shapes

Students are learning how to compare two dimensional and three dimensional shapes. We practiced sorting food/candy that looked like two dimensional or three dimensional shapes. Every student did such a great job! Way to go!

Reading Strategies

Students have been working with a partner to find the setting, characters, problem, and solution after listening to a story. When you read a story to your child, ask them questions to help build their comprehension. 

Here are some great questions to ask your little one:

1. Who are the characters in the story?

2. What is the setting (time and place)?

3. What is the problem in the story?

4.  How was the problem solved?

5. What was your favorite part in the story? Why?

6. Does this story remind you of anything? (text connections)

Another reading strategy we practice is using a reading stick to point to words. This helps students with one to one correspondence. Encourage your child to point to each word when they read. 

New Years Resolutions

I will clean the whole class. (Thanks, Tom!)

We started the new year by discussing what our resolutions are for 2013. They shared the sweetest and cutest resolutions. I am so proud of them!!

Family Reading Night at Chick-fil-A

January 28, 2013, 5pm-7pm
