POLAR EXPRESS DAY

Tomorrow will be Polar Express Day. Please remember to have your child come dressed in their pajamas and pack a pair of sneakers in case we go outside so they don’t ruin their slippers. Your child can come in without eating breakfast because we will start off the morning watching the movie, eating doughnuts and fruit, and drinking hot chocolate. If your child does not like doughnuts please have them eat a breakfast at home. We will also be having a pizza party in the classroom so they do not need lunch boxes/lunch money.

Thank you all for helping donate to make our holiday party fun. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2013

Mrs. Stolpman

**I will post tons of pictures tomorrow night so that you can see all the fun we had!!

Measurement

Wow!! What great mathematicians we have in our class. This week we measured different holiday items using cubes. We discovered that sometimes we might get the wrong measurement if we don't start at the top and go all the way to the bottom. We also discovered that if we don't snap the cubes together there could be extra space in between. Ask your little one what they learned about measuring. Leave a comment.

Sequencing

Today for Reader's Workshop we heard the story, The Polar Express. Students discussed with their partners the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Each partner was given a set of picture cards and were told to sequence the events from the book. They did such a great job!! Ask your little one to tell you the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

Our little elves

Our friendly and silly elves:

Our writing activity:
If I were one of Santa's elves I would help deliver presents.

If I were one of Santa's elves I would take Santa's cookies.

If I were one of Santa's elves I would take all of the other elves hats.

Elf pillows-Elves need something to sleep on too!

In unit study today, we wrote about what we would do if we were one of Santa's elves, made elf hats, and prepared elf pillows to take home. Enjoy the pictures!
